Noble County - 101 Ranch - H. H. Clarke, Postcard Publisher

Native Indian Curio shop of H. H. ClarkeDuring the first decade of the 1900s, H. H. Clarke and his wife, Opal, sold cigars and newspapers as well as "native curios" in their small shop near Main and Harvey in Oklahoma City. The Clarkes were also distributors of postcards. A small selection of these is visible on the right edge of this postcard. H. H. Clarke, served as publisher and arranged for the photograph and printing of the postcards. His cards are unusual because he used hand-coloring rather than coloring through the lighography process. Most of his postcards were of Oklahoma City, but he also published some of Oklahoma Indians and the 101 Ranch, as shown below.

Edwards. Jim and Ottaway, Hal. The Vanished Splendor, Postcard Views of Oklahoma City Volume 1. Abalache Book Shop Publishing. 1982.
